WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team will be looking to get into the win column this afternoon when the Blue Hens make the trip south to the nation's capital to take on Georgetown at Shaw Field at 4 p.m.
The Blue Hens have opened the season with an 0-2 mark, falling to Villanova 3-2 a week ago and dropping a Sunday contest to Syracuse by a 2-0 score. Both games were on the road.
Georgetown enters with a 1-1 mark following a season-opening 6-0 win over Towson Aug. 19 and a 3-0 setback to No. 5/1 ranked Stanford at home on Aug. 21. Rachel Corboz tallied three times in the victory over the Tigers.
Delaware has managed just two goals this season, both off the foot of freshmen Jillian Vassallo and Dani Kabat vs. Villanova. Last year's leading scorer, three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association senior forward Natalie Zelenky, is still looking for her first goal of the year after hitting the back of the net 11 times a year ago.
Blue Hen junior goalkeeper Kailyn Rekos has recorded 14 saves in two games.
Delaware and Georgetown meet for the fifth time with the Hoyas winning all four previous contests, including a 2-0 victory last year in Newark.
The Hens have not started the year 0-3 since 2013.
