Guillermo Delgado Nets CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. – All-American Guillermo Delgado (Tres Cantos, Spain/Jose Luis Sampedro) has started the season hot and was recognized Monday for his efforts as he was named the CAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
Delgado scored three of UD's four goals and assisted on the fourth to power the Blue Hens to a 2-0-0 opening weekend.
The senior tied a career high with five points in the season lid-lifter Friday, tallying two goals and an assist in Delaware's win at Bucknell. In Sunday's victory over Fordham, Delgado scored the game's lone goal, which happened to be the 40th of his career.
Ian Hennessy, who is in his 11th season as the head coach of the Blue Hens. “Guillermo has worked hard for this. After spending his summer with the Seattle Sounders, he came in mentally and physically prepared. I am very happy for him to be recognized.”Delgado's 40 career goals is good for second in program history behind Mike Biggs, who posted 47 from 1968-70. He also has 92 career points, which is second only behind Biggs, who registered 99.
Hofstra's Luke Brown and Drexel's Daniel Klemm garnered co-Rookie of the Week accolades.
Delgado and the Blue Hens return to the pitch on Friday, September 2 as they travel to Lehigh for a 7 p.m. contest.
