Blue Hen Cross County Team Opens 2016 Season Friday at Lehigh Invitational

Wendy McFarlane-Smith, posted three second place finishes a year ago before closing the year by placing seventh at the ECAC Championships.
Senior Betsy Erlanger, the team's MVP from a year ago, returns to lead the Blue Hen squad. Erlanger was UD's top finisher in four events, and claimed the Delaware Invitational crown.
Junior Liz McGroarty was the team's top finisher in three invitationals, including the season-ending ECAC meet. Sophomore Lauren Zodl, who earned the squad's Outstanding Rookie Award, will look to build on her outstanding freshman campaign.
Senior Gabby Alaimo, a team captain along with Erlanger, competed in the first seven events during the 2015 season, while sophomore Emily Paolucci was the only Blue Hen to participate in all eight invitationals during her freshman year.
Following Friday's invitational, the Blue Hens will host the first of three home meets on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they host the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park at 10 a.m.
