TOWSON, Md. – Delaware wrapped its first weekend of fall play Sunday morning in positive fashion with three singles wins and a doubles victory over Rhode Island.
Freshman Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) continued her hot hand and won her third straight singles match by defeating Mihaela Codreanu, 6-1, 6-1.
Graduate student Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) finished her weekend with a 2-0 singles mark with a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-1, 10-5 triumph against Rachel Smilansky.
In her first singles match of the season, junior Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) collected the 6-1, 6-1 victory over Paige Alshon.
Sophomore Sarah Hall (West Orange, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and junior Arielle Shuren (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) picked up their first doubles win of the year by defeating Ariel Haber and Emily Zargham.
“Today we did many things well. We also learned and gained the information that we want so we know what to work on in practice in the coming days.”
