CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Blue Hens continued fall tournament play Friday with competition against Connecticut at the Harvard Fall Classic, held at the Beren Tennis Center.
Delaware walked away with three singles and two doubles victories on the day.
Freshman Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) notched her fourth straight win by defeating Emma Alderman, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
Graduate student Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) followed with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 decision over Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph while junior Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) posted a 6-4, 7-5 victory against Summer Walker.
In doubles play, LaMachia and Studnicki combined for a 6-4 win versus Alderman and Yelyzaveta Pietnyeva.
Junior Arielle Shuren (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) and sophomore Draga Sabotic (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) paired for the tough-fought 7-5 victory over Lou Regen and Zaina Zaki.
“This was a strong start to a weekend of play at Harvard. We did many things well and also gained valuable insight on what needs attention in practice.”
