STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Friday when the Blue Hens head to Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. match with the Seawolves.
Delaware, which is 1-7 on the year, is looking to close its non-league slate on a high note after dropping its last two matches. The Blue Hens are coming off a 2-1 home loss to Penn on Sunday, as senior Natalie Zelenky scored her first goal of the campaign on a penalty kick late in the first half.
Freshman Dani Kabat continues to lead Delaware with two goals on the season, while Zelenky also has four points on a goal and two assists. Krista Trinidad has contributed a goal and an assist, while Jillian Vassallo and Nikki Adams have also scored for the Blue Hens. Kailyn Rekos has started all eight matches in the UD goal, posting 48 saves and a 2.07 goals against average.
Stony Brook enters the match with a 1-5-2 record, and the Seawolves are winless in their last three matches including a 4-1 setback to 17th-ranked UConn on Sunday. Stony Brook's lone win of the year came against Brown, while the Seawolves have tied Sacred Heart and Columbia.
Raven Edwards leads Stony Brook with two goals and an assist for five points on the year, while Lindsay Hutchinson and Julie Johnstonbaugh have each added a goal and an assist.
Delaware leads the all-time series with Stony Brook, 4-2, although the teams have not met since the 2011 season, a 3-0 Blue Hen victory at the JMU Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va.
Following Friday's match, Delaware will close its regular season with nine consecutive CAA games, including home contests vs. Northeastern next Friday and Hofstra next Sunday.
