NEWARK, Del. -- After kicking off the 2016 season with nine consecutive matches away from Newark, the Delaware volleyball team finally opens its home schedule this weekend when the Blue Hens host the 40th Annual University of Delaware Invitational.
The tournament begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center when Duquesne takes on Missouri, before Delaware plays Miami (Fla.) at 7 p.m. that night. Senior Alexa Swann is tied for ninth in the league with a team-best .318 hitting percentage, while classmate Julia Anderson is sixth in the conference by handing out 8.67 assists per set.
Senior libero Taylor Hollingsworth, who was UD's representative on the NC State Wolfpack Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend, ranks third in the CAA with 5.03 digs per set.

Delaware and Miami have faced each other once previously, a 3-0 Hurricanes victory at the 2007 Miami Tournament. The Blue Hens are 3-0 against Duquesne, although the programs haven't met since 1991, while this weekend's final match will be the first ever meeting between UD and Missouri.
Individual match tickets are available for $7, while youth and senior tickets can be purchased for $5. Group tickets are available for $4 (groups of 15-49) and $2 (groups of 50+), while UD students with a valid University ID card will be admitted free of charge.
