Guillermo Delgado Tabbed CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Following a record-setting week, Delaware All-American Guillermo Delgado (Tres Cantos, Spain/Jose Luis Sampedro) was named Monday as the CAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
The forward registered six points (2g, 2a) while setting the program record for career points as the Blue Hens went 2-0.
Ian Hennessy, who is in his 11th season as the head coach of the Blue Hens. “This is a little icing on the cake and we are all very happy to help celebrate it with him.”In Delaware's 3-1 victory over Seton Hall, Delgado had a hand in all three goals, notching two assists while scoring once to tie Mike Biggs' school record of 99 career points tallied from 1968-70.
Delgado broke the 46-year-old program record in Saturday's CAA opener against William and Mary. He evened the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 66th minute to become the first player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau. The score was also the 43rd goal of his career as he sits just behind Biggs' mark of 47. The Hens (6-1, 1-0 CAA) went on to win the game, 2-1, as time expired in double overtime.
Through weekend play, Delgado is currently seventh nationally with 16 points and ninth overall with six goals. He also ranks third with 2.43 shots on goal per game and 15th with four assists.
Drexel's Carlos Cuevas earned CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
Delgado and the No. rv Blue Hens return to the pitch Tuesday with a 7 p.m. start against No. 23 Virginia Tech.
