CAA Names Ben Sampson Men's Soccer Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association recognized Delaware graduate student and team captain Ben Sampson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) Monday as the league's Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
Sampson registered a career-high two goals, including the game-winner, Saturday evening as the Hens defeated Northeastern, 4-0. Delaware captured their second conference win of the year to move to 7-2 overall and 2-0 to sit atop the league standings.
Ian Hennessy, who is in his 11th season as the head coach of the Blue Hens. “He is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American®, but as a defender, it's not often that he gets on the score sheet twice in one game. I am sure he will have fun with our forwards this week in practice.”The defender is currently tied for eighth in the CAA standings with three goals and 10th with six total points in eight games played.
Hofstra's Danny Elliott shared Player of the Week accolades with Sampson while Phillip Goodrum (UNCW) was tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week.
Delaware continues league play this Wednesday as the Blue Hens travel to Drexel for a 7 p.m. matchup at Vidas Field. The Hens return home on Saturday to face Hofstra, a match also scheduled for 7 p.m.
