Blue Hens Close Out Homestand This Weekend vs. Elon, Charleston

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team closes out its eight-match homestand this weekend when the Blue Hens host Elon and the College of Charleston in a pair of Colonial Athletic Association matches at the Bob Carpenter Center.
UD will take on Elon Saturday at 7 p.m. and Charleston Sunday at 1 p.m., with live video and live stats available for both matches.
The Blue Hens are 6-9 overall and 0-2 in league play following Thursday night's five-set loss to UNCW. Delaware rallied from two sets down to force a deciding fifth set, but the Seahawks prevailed in the final stanza to earn the victory.
UD freshman Maria Bellinger led the Blue Hens with career-highs of 21 kills and 14 digs against UNCW, while Autumn Jenkins recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 20 digs. Daria Robinson and Alexa Swann added 10 kills apiece, while Julia Anderson handed out a season-high 54 assists to go with 14 digs. Taylor Hollingsworth made a season-best 32 digs for Delaware, while Corey Perkins added a career-high 16 digs of her own.
Elon enters Saturday's match with a 14-4 overall record, and the Phoenix is 1-1 in the league after falling to James Madison and defeating William & Mary at home last weekend. Sydel Curry ranks second in the conference with 10.02 assists per set, while Kam Terry is second in the CAA and 38th in Division I with 225 kills. Ally Karle leads the CAA with 72 blocks, while her 1.50 blocks average is good for 17th nationally.
Charleston is 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the CAA heading into its Friday night match at Towson, as the Cougars opened league play last weekend with home wins over Hofstra and Northeastern. Lauren Freed paces Charleston with 2.80 kills per set, while Allison Beckman leads the league with 10.89 kills per set and current CAA Defensive Player of the Week McKala Rhodes is fourth with a 4.65 digs average.
Delaware has won all four meetings with Elon since the Phoenix joined the CAA, while the Cougars are holding an 8-2 advantage over the Blue Hens and have taken all six matches since they joined the conference.
