NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team travels to George Washington this afternoon before hosting Penn on Sunday as the Blue Hens wind down the non-conference portion of their schedule.
UD will take on the Colonials this afternoon at the GW Soccer Field at 5 p.m., an hour later than the original start time due to excessive heat in the area. The Blue Hens then host Penn Sunday at 12 noon at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium in their final non-league home match of the season.
Delaware (1-5) picked up its first win of the season on Sunday by shutting out Loyola (Md.), 1-0, as Nikki Adams scored the lone goal of the match off an assist from Natalie Zelenky. Kailyn Rekos made six saves in the Blue Hen goal to post her first shutout of the season.
Dani Kabat continues to lead UD with two goals on the year, while Krista Trinidad, Jillian Vassallo and Adams have each found the back of the net once.
George Washington is a perfect 5-0 on the season, and is coming off a 1-0 home victory over then No. 17 Arkansas on Sunday. The triumph over the Razorbacks, the program's first win over a nationally-ranked team since 1996, earned the Colonials 17 votes in this week's national poll.
MacKenzie Cowley leads GW with five goals on the year, including the game-winner over Arkansas, while goalkeeper Miranda Horn has not allowed a goal in 406 minutes of action.
Penn is 1-1 heading into Friday's home match against Lafayette, as the Quakers fell to Maryland, 3-1, before posting a 5-0 win over Robert Morris. Emma Loving leads Penn with two goals on the season, while Kitty Qu has surrendered just one goal in 168 minutes in goal.
Delaware is 1-2 all-time against GW, with its lone win coming last year in a 3-1 triumph over the Colonials at Grant Stadium. Penn holds a slim 7-6 advantage over the Blue Hens, although the teams have not met since a 1-0 Quakers victory in Newark in 2014.
