Blue Hens Trio Claim SJU Invitational Titles

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Blue Hens came away from the Saint Joseph's Invitational Sunday with three singles titles under their belts.
In Flight 1, freshman Sarah Whited (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) collected the consolation bracket crown following a 6-3, 6-1 semifinals win over La Salle's Tiffany Theophil and a 7-6 (4), ret. victory against Villanova's Lexi DeNucci.
Senior Arielle Shuren (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) picked up the Flight 3 consolation title with hard-fought three-set wins. Shuren defeated SJU's Katherine Devlin, 4-6, 7-6, 10-4 and Bucknell's Rachel Carroll, 6-1, 5-7, 10-1.
In the fourth flight, Delaware was going to come away with the championship either way as juniors Annie Jaskulski (Wilmington, Del./Friends) and Sarah Hall (West Orange, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) faced off in the final. Jaskulski topped Villanova's Paulina Bajet, 6-1, 7-5, while Hall defeated Wildcat Lauren Munari, 6-4, 2-6, 10-7, to advance to the final pairing. Jaskulski pulled out the 6-1, 7-5 victory over her teammate for the finals win.
