McGroarty Leads Blue Hens at Pre-National Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Delaware senior Liz McGroarty led her team in a strong showing at the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Louisville Saturday afternoon.
McGroarty was able to get the Blue Hens 12 points as she finished the six-kilometer race in a time of 21:27.4, finishing less than a minute behind the leader.
McGroarty, who won the individual title at the Delaware Invitational back on Sept. 16, locked up a 12th place finish in a star-studded field which included teams from Michigan, Clemson, and Arkansas.
Delaware finished 18th overall in the Women's Black 6k race with 451 points. Nevada won the team title with a score of 62 points. BYU secured second place with 96 points followed by Michigan in third place with 170 points. The individual winner was Hanne Christensen from Western Michigan with a time of 20:48.5.
Also for Delaware in the race, Roxanne Ramirez was 78th (22:25.9), Stephanie Bazan was 140th (23:06.1), Susanna Weir was 149th (23:15.2), Emily Paolucci was 150th (23:15.8), Lauren Zodl was 153rd (23:17.2), and Analise Kaminski was 169th (23:27.3).
Delaware will be back in action on Saturday, October 28, for the Colonial Athletic Association Championships hosted by Elon.
