HEN SCRATCHINGS 🐔
• The Blue Hens return home to host William & Mary on Friday and Elon on Sunday after facing off against James Madison in Virginia last Friday where they dropped a three-set match to the Dukes in a rematch of the 2016 CAA Championship match. The first set featured 11 ties, but the Dukes eventually closed out the set by winning the final three points and took seven of the final 10 points in the second set. The match marked the halfway point of the Blue Hens' conference schedule.
• Outside hitter Maria Bellinger paced the team with nine kills against JMU, and has led the Blue Hens in kills during all eight conference matches this season. Bellinger ranks second in the conference and 32nd nationally by averaging 4.16 kills per set. She has slammed double digit kills in eight of the last nine matches.
• Junior Brooke Robertson and sophomore Bailey Pearlman each added seven kills vs. the Dukes. Robertson also tied for the team lead with nine digs, with Kori Rasmussen contributing nine of her own.
• Setter Courtnie Roberts led the Blue Hens with 14 assists and added six digs, while Abby Skryd dished out 11 assists.
• Friday's match against William & Mary is $1 hot dog night and will feature a Delaware sock giveaway for the first 200 fans.
• Fans can bring their ticket stub from Saturday's football game against Richmond to gain free entrance to Sunday's match against Elon. Following the match, the entire Blue Hen squad will be signing autographs in the lobby.
• After Sunday's match against Elon, Delaware will travel to Boston to face Northeastern next Friday and to Hofstra next Sunday.
SERIES INFORMATION 💪
• Delaware leads William & Mary, 24-14, in the all-time series. UD posted a 3-2 victory on William & Mary's home court in the last meeting during both squad's conference opener. The Blue Hens have won 13 of the last 17 matches against the Tribe.
• The Blue Hens lead the all-time series with Elon, 5-2, although UD fell to the Phoenix in their first meeting of the season, 3-2, on Elon's home court. The Phoenix enter the weekend having lost three of their last four contests. Ranking just above Bellinger, Sydney Busa of Elon leads the conference with 4.33 kills per set.
