RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore outside hitter Maria Bellinger was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Third Team as the league announced its all-conference selections Wednesday.
Bellinger (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) started all 26 matches for Delaware this season, and was the only Blue Hen to appear in all 96 sets. She led the team with 360 kills (3.75 per set) and 18 service aces, was second on the squad with 233 digs, and tied for fourth with 36 blocks.
Bellinger's 3.75 kills average was good for third in the conference, while she ranked fourth by averaging 4.16 points per set.
Bellinger recorded seven of the eight highest kill matches by a Blue Hen this season including a career-high 28 at George Washington and UNCW, which tied for the sixth most in UD history. She posted 25 kills and a career-best 20 digs in the Blue Hens' victory over UMBC, and following her match vs. the Colonials became just the second player in program history to record at least 25 kills in consecutive matches.
Bellinger also slammed 25 kills at William & Mary and 23 two nights later at Elon, surpassing the 20-kills mark five times on the year. She notched double figure kills in 17 contests, and recorded a team-leading six double-doubles during the campaign.
