Blue Hens Ninth Seed in CAA Tournament, Will Face Hofstra Friday in First Round

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The University of Delaware men's basketball team will be the ninth seed in the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament and will face Hofstra in the first round on Friday.
The Blue Hens (12-19, 5-11 CAA) will battle the eighth-seeded Pride (15-16, 7-11 CAA) Friday at 6 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum during the first game of the championship.
Hofstra swept the regular season series from Delaware this year, posting a 58-56 win in Newark on Dec. 31 and a 73-65 triumph in Hempstead on Feb. 2. Friday's game will be the seventh postseason meeting between Delaware and Hofstra with the Blue Hens holding a 4-2 advantage.
Friday's other first round game will feature No. 7 seed James Madison taking on 10th-seeded Drexel at 8:30 p.m.
Top-seeded UNCW will take on the winner of the Hofstra/Delaware game in Saturday's first quarterfinal at 12 noon, while No. 4 seed William & Mary and No. 5 seed Elon will play at 2:30 p.m. Second-seeded Charleston will face the James Madison/Drexel winner at 6 p.m., before No. 3 seed Towson and No. 6 seed Northeastern wrap up the day at 8:30 p.m.
The semifinals will take place on Sunday at 2 and 4:30 p.m. while Monday's championship game begins at 7 p.m.
Friday's first round games will be available online at CAA.TV. All four quarterfinal games will be televised by the Comcast SportsNet family of networks as well as several other regional outlets. The semifinals will also be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet, while the championship game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
CAA Tournament tickets are available at the North Charleston Coliseum box office or by calling TicketMaster at (800) 745-3000. Blue Hen fans can also purchase tickets through the Delaware Ticket Office, in person at the BCC box office or by phone at (302) 831-2257. Individual session tickets range from $15 to $30 while championship books range from $60 to $120.
