Delaware Outdoor Track & Field Completes First Day at North Carolina State Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. -- University of Delaware athletes recorded four top 20 finishes at the first day of the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University Friday at Paul Derr Track & Field Stadium.
One of the nation's most competitive collegiate track and field meets, the event will continue Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Members of the Delaware outdoor track & field team will also compete at the Navy Invitational Saturday in Annapolis, Md.
Delaware had 16 competitors take part in eight events on Friday with the top showing an eighth place finish by the 1,600 sprint medley relay team of Haley Berkeley, Sofia Janotti, Nadia Khoury, and Marissa Albano. The foursome ran to a time of 4:23.79.
The Blue Hens had three other top 20 finishes as Cassandra Wahl placed 13th in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 1-inch, Brittany Scott was 14th in the high jump with a leap of 5-1, and Liz McGroarty was 18th in the 1,500 meters (personal-best 4:27.57). Leslie Ope was also 22nd in the 100 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.70.
