Delaware Posts Three Top 10 Finishes at First Day of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Behind three top 10 finishes, the University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field team opened up action at the annual Colonial Relays Thursday evening at William & Mary's Zable Stadium.
Delaware senior Irene Cedano led the Blue Hens with a fourth place showing in the hammer throw University Division with toss of 143-feet-, 6-inches, sophomore Lauren Zodl was sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:59.51, and junior Jade Francis placed seventh in the hammer throw Championship Division with a toss of 154-1.
Also for the Hens, junior Melissa Zegeer was 11th in the hammer throw Championship Division (143-8), senior Melissa Talley was 34th in the 3,000 meters (10:41.68), and junior Adrienne Fraczkowski was 45th in the 3,000 meters (11:18.61).
Zodl's time in the 3,000 meters qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in May at Princeton.
Delaware will continue action at the three-day meet Friday morning.
