Delaware Ties For Third Place, Gianniny Falls in Playoff at Manor Intercollegiate

FARMVILLE, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in a tie for third place while Blue Hen junior Jack Gianniny tied for the individual lead before falling in a playoff this weekend at the Manor Intercollegiate.
The Blue Hens, who fired 292 and 293 rounds on Saturday, finished with a 290 on Sunday to tie for third place out of 16 teams with an 875 total. Rhode Island captured the team title with an 872 score, Dartmouth finished second at 874, and Delaware tied host Longwood for third at 875.
Gianniny carded a one under par 71 during his final round on the par 72, 7,246-yard course at The Manor Golf Club, finishing with a three under par 69-73-71-213 to tie for first place along with Chris Houston of Rhode Island. However Houston birdied the first playoff hole to take home medalist honors.
Kieran Purcell also shot a one under par 71 on Sunday, as he tied for 10th place with a two over par 70-77-71-218. Bobby Diforio enjoyed the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a two under par 70, tying for 16th place at 78-72-70-220, four over par.
Marc Oliveri tied for 39th place at the tournament with an 11 over par 76-73-78-227, while Blaine Lafferty carded a 16 over par 77-75-80-232 to finish in a tie for 51st place.
Delaware returns to action on Monday, Apr. 10 when the Blue Hens compete in the Finegan Invitational at Whitemarsh Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
