McGroarty Runs Career-Best in 1,500 Meters at Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. -- University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field junior distance standout Liz McGroarty put in a career-best time in the 1,500 meter run Friday night at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium.
McGroarty, a native of Glen Mills, Pa. (Garnet Valley High School), covered the 1,500-meter distance in a time of 4:24.54 to surpass her previous career-best of 4:25.41. It is the third fastest time in school history.
McGroarty, the only member of the UD squad to compete at the meet, placed second in her heat and 11th overall in the overall competition. Shannon Murdock of New Hampshire won the heat with a time of 4:23.25 while Nicole Tully of the Hoka New Jersey/New York Track Club won the overall competition with a time of 4:15.23.
The rest of the Blue Hen squad will compete on Saturday when Delaware hosts the annual Delaware Classic at Grant Stadium beginning at 9 a.m.
