Delaware Heads To Hofstra For CAA Weekend Set

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware softball team hits the road for the second consecutive weekend as the Blue Hens head north to face Hofstra in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series.
The Blue Hens and Pride will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a 12 noon single game on Sunday at Bill Edwards Stadium. Live stats at HofstraStats.com and audio at Pride Productions will be available for all three games.
Delaware has won 14 of its last 16 games to improve to 16-14 on the season, and the Blue Hens are tied for second place in the league standings with a 4-2 conference mark. Hofstra enters the weekend at 12-15 overall and 2-3 in the CAA.
Anna Steinmetz currently leads the conference with eight home runs, while her .398 batting average ranks second in the league. Giovanna Kolofer ranks third in the CAA by hitting .388 with a team-leading 38 hits, while Emily Neal is 10th in the conference with a .365 average. Leanna Gearhart ranks second in the CAA with 16 steals and tied for fourth with 26 runs scored, while Mariah Kondravy is fourth with 27 RBI.
Jordan Cargile, who has fired 14.2 consecutive scoreless innings, has improved to 12-8 with a 3.30 earned run average in the circle for the Blue Hens, while Taylor Curran is 3-1 with a 3.40 ERA.
Lacey Clark paces Hofstra with a .346 batting average, six doubles and 17 RBI, while Kristin Hallam is tied with Clark for the team lead with 27 hits and Brielle Pietrafesa leads the Pride with five homers. Sarah Cornell is Hofstra's top pitcher with a 10-7 record and a 3.63 ERA.
Hofstra leads the all-time series with Delaware, 65-18, but the Blue Hens won two of three games from the Pride last season in Newark.
Following the weekend series, Delaware returns home to host Saint Joseph's in a Tuesday doubleheader and 14th-ranked James Madison next weekend.
