HEN SCRATCHINGS 🐔
• Delaware is looking for its first win of the season after dropping three matches at the WVU Invitational last weekend. The Blue Hens took the first set in their season opener vs. West Virginia last Friday, before losing the next three. Following a three-set loss to sixth-ranked Penn State on Saturday morning, Delaware fell in four sets to UT Martin that afternoon.
• Sophomore outside hitter Maria Bellinger represented the Blue Hens on the WVU Invitational All-Tournament Team. Bellinger led Delaware in kills during all three matches, and currently ranks seventh in the CAA with 3.55 kills per set and eighth with 4.00 points per set.
• UD junior setter Abby Skryd handed out 94 assists during the three matches last weekend, as her 8.55 assists average is good for fourth in the league.
• Daria Robinson paced the Blue Hens with 11 blocks, tied for third most in the CAA, and surpassed the 200-blocks mark for her career.
• Bailey Pearlman is hitting a team-best .246 on the young season, while Kori Rasmussen paces the squad with 21 digs. Freshman Maddie Judge has made an immediate impact for UD, ranking second with 20 digs.
SERIES INFORMATION 💪
• Yale leads the all-time series with Delaware, 7-3, and has won the last four meetings between the schools. The Bulldogs and Blue Hens will be facing off for the first time since the 2011 season, when Yale posted a four-set victory at the Maryland Tournament. The Bulldogs have won the Ivy League title in five of the last seven years.
• Delaware and Clemson have split two all-time meetings, with the Blue Hens recording a 3-1 triumph at the Clemson Classic in 2013. The Tigers, who were picked 15th in the ACC Preseason Poll, opened their season with wins over Bethune-Cookman, Jacksonville and Lamar before falling to Kennesaw State on Tuesday.
• Delaware leads the all-time series with Rhode Island, 9-3, but the teams have met just once since 1982. The Rams notched a three-set victory over the Blue Hens at the 2014 Delaware Invitational. Rhode Island, which was picked fourth in the Atlantic 10 Poll, dropped its opening three matches at the Golden Dome Invitational to New Mexico State, Notre Dame and Valparaiso.
