Blue Hens Drop Contest at No. 20 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team dropped its final non-conference game of the season at No. 20 Princeton Sunday afternoon by a 3-0 score.
The Blue Hens (3-4-2) fell behind the Tigers (7-1) 2-0 at the half, allowing goals in the 15th and 27th minutes. Following the halftime break, Princeton added a 60th-minute goal to enjoy a 3-0 victory.
Abby Givens scored two goals to lead Princeton while Mikaela Symanovich scored the first goal and Vanessa Gregoire suppled two assists on the day.
Senior Abby Thomas recorded the lone shot of the game for the Blue Hens while Kailyn Rekos made three saves in goal.
Head Coach Mike Barroqueiro:
"This game will be a great learning opportunity for us as we prepare for CAA play. Princeton is a legitimate Top 20 team and is incredibly well coached. They exposed us all over the field today. Sometimes throughout the building process, you need to take your lumps to move forward. Today was one of those days. I give Princeton so much credit. They showed today why they are one of the top teams in the country."

• Delaware falls to 0-3 in non-overtime games this season
• Today's game was the first time all season that the game was not decided by one goal.
• The Blue Hens were shutout for the third time this season.
