Jack Gianniny, Ariane Klotz Earn CAA Golfer of the Week Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware senior Jack Gianniny was named the CAA Men's Golfer of the Week while sophomore Ariane Klotz earned CAA Women's Golfer of the Week honors on Wednesday.
Gianniny (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) fired a three under par 71-71-71-213 on the par 72, 7,071-yard Chantilly National Golf & Country Club course to finish in second place at the George Mason Patriot Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
Gianniny's three-round total tied for the fourth lowest 54-hole score of his career, as he helped the Blue Hens tie for second place out of 16 squads in the team standings.
Gianniny, whose 73.56 average round ranks second on UD this fall, earned his fourth career CAA Golfer of the Week accolade.
Klotz (Nouméa, New Caledonia) tied for fourth place at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, as her one under par score of 74-70-71-215 on the par 72, 6,341-yard PSU Blue Course is the second lowest in program history. Additionally, Klotz's second round 70 tied for the lowest of her career.
Klotz led the Blue Hens to a third place team finish out of 14 squads, as their 882 total broke the school record for a 54-hole team score by eight strokes.
Klotz, last year's CAA Rookie of the Year and a first team All-CAA selection, currently leads Delaware with a 73.83 average round this fall.
The UD women's team returns to the course this weekend to compete in the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, while the Blue Hen men are off until they participate in the Elon Phoenix Invitational on Oct. 16-17.
