BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer program dropped a 1-0 contest at Northeastern Thursday night. The Blue Hens (4-6-2, 1-2 CAA) received a dominant performance in net from Kailyn Rekos, but an early goal by Huskies (8-4-1, 2-0-1 CAA) forward Hannah Rosenblatt proved to be the difference.
Rosenblatt scored the game-winner in the fifth minute, burying a shot after Rekos initially saved a penalty kick attempt from the forward. The penalty kick was awarded to Northeastern after Delaware was whistled for a handball in their own 18-yard box.
Delaware recorded a pair of shots in the match, with Lexi Faulmino recording a shot on goal. Rekos made six saves.
UD returns home to Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium this Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Hens host UNCW.
Mike Barroqueiro"Anytime we come with a loss, we're going to be disappointed. We struggled to get into any type of rhythm in the first half, but we made a few changes and played better in the second half. Credit to Northeastern, they played well, but I felt we did not have our best performance especially in the first half. You can't beat good teams when you do that."
