RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware freshman Kelly Wesolowski has earned Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
In her collegiate debut, Wesolowski (White Hall, Md/Hereford) finished first at the Elon Opener this past Saturday, covering the four-kilometer course in 14:19 defeating runner-up Famke Heinst of High Point by 17 seconds.
The Blue Hens (109) finished fifth overall in the team standings behind Elon (40), North Carolina (62), High Point (64) and College of Charleston (92).
Weslowski becomes the first Delaware cross country runner to earn CAA honors since Katrina Steenkamer was honored on Sept. 15, 2014.
Delaware will continue action Sept. 16 when the Blue Hens host the annual Delaware Invitational. The meet, which includes both men's and women's teams, gets underway at 9:30 a.m. from White Clay Creek State Park in Newark.
