Delaware Women's Golfers Open 2017 Fall Campaign This Weekend at Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team will open its 2017 fall season this weekend when the Blue Hens compete in the Rutgers Invitational.
The tournament features two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday on the par 72, 6,041-yard Rutgers Golf Course, with action on both days beginning at 7:45 a.m. from the first and 10th tees. The 11-team field includes Delaware, Albany, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Hofstra, Long Island, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Siena and Wagner.
The Blue Hens have captured the last two Rutgers Invitational team titles, including a 15-shot victory last year with a 313-298-308-919 score.
Delaware, led by head coach Patty Post, is looking to continue its momentum from the spring season when the Blue Hens captured their second straight Colonial Athletic Association championship and competed in the NCAA Columbus (Ohio) Regional.
Delaware returns four of its top six players from a year ago, including Ariane Klotz who was named the CAA Rookie of the Year in the spring after leading the Blue Hens with a 75.34 average round and five top 10 finishes. Also back for the Blue Hens are junior Valentina Mueller, who ranked third on the team with a 77.16 stroke average last season, junior Ashley Dingman, who was fourth with a 77.38 average round, and sophomore Josefina Fernandez-Davila, who was sixth with a 79.52 average round.
The invitational will be the first of five fall tournaments for the Blue Hens, who will also compete in the Penn State Invitational on Sept. 23-24, Princeton Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Yale Intercollegiate on Oct. 6-8, and Delaware Invitational on Oct. 21-22.
