NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware volleyball head coach Sara Matthews has announced that Missouri transfer Andie Hanus has joined the Blue Hen program and will have two years of eligibility with UD beginning in the 2018 season.
Hanus, a libero from Omaha, Neb., will begin playing with the Blue Hens during the upcoming spring season.
Hanus appeared in all 34 matches last fall for the Tigers, who finished with a 22-12 record, placed third in the SEC with a 13-5 mark, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. She posted 98 digs on the year, including a career-high eight against BYU.
After initially planning to redshirt in 2016, Hanus ended up playing in 14 matches during her freshman season with the Tigers, finishing with 16 digs and four assists.
Prior to arriving as Missouri, Hanus was a three-year starter at Marian High School, helping lead the school to three straight state championships. She was named Under Armour Girls High School All-American Honorable Mention as a senior.
“We are thrilled to have Andie joining our team this spring,” Matthews said. “She brings a wealth of playing experience at a very high level at one of the top conferences in the country. We expect her to make an immediate impact on the court both athletically and leadership wise. Her consistent reception ability and overall ball control will raise the level of play in our gym. She is a great competitor and we are excited she is joining our Blue Hen family.”
