Maria Bellinger Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After guiding Delaware volleyball to a five set win, junior Maria Bellinger was named Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Two weeks ago, Bellinger set the program record for kills at Elon with 34. On Friday, Bellinger came up with 33 kills in UD's five set win over Northeastern. Bellinger hit .281 after taking 89 swings. During that match, Bellinger became the 19th player in program history to hit the 1,000 kill milestone.
Bellinger continued her hot streak against Hofstra, posting 20 kills in the Blue Hens' four set loss to the Pride. She also posted her fifth double-double of the season against the Pride when she added 10 digs to her 20 hammers. Bellinger had 53 terminations over the weekend and has posted double-digit kills in every league match this year.
She added 17 digs this weekend to her 53 terminations and also five blocks, two aces and two assists.
Bellinger is up to 4.26 kills per set this season and is currently leading the CAA and 29th in the nation.
Delaware volleyball is back in action on Friday, October 19 to take on William & Mary. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
