Allen, Carter Named CAA Men’s Basketball Preseason Honorable Mention

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware sophomore guard Ryan Allen and senior forward Eric Carter were named CAA Preseason Honorable Mention during the league's Media Day on Wednesday.
Allen (Bowie, Md./DeMatha), last year's CAA Rookie of the Year, ranked second on the Blue Hens with a 15.3 scoring average and tied the UD single season record by hitting 86 three-pointers. He reached double figures in all but five games in which he appeared, including 16 straight from Jan. 7 through Mar. 3. Allen recorded six 20-point games on the season, and hit a three-pointer in each of the first 29 games of his career.
Carter (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) was fourth on the team by scoring 11.0 points per game a year ago, while leading the team and ranking third in the conference with a 9.1 rebounding average. Carter's 59.3 field goal percentage also was third best in the CAA, while he ranked among the league leaders in blocked shots as well. He finished the year with 12 double-doubles, and scored a career-high 23 points at Charleston. Carter's 53.8 career field goal percentage is currently the fourth highest in school history.
Delaware, led by third-year head coach Martin Ingelsby, was picked seventh in the CAA Preseason Poll with 148 points. Northeastern was picked to win the league, followed by Charleston, Hofstra and William & Mary.
The Blue Hens open their 2018-19 season on Nov. 6 at Maryland, and will host Chestnut Hill in the home opener on Nov. 13.
