Blue Hens Gather Seven Wins at Martha Thorn Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.V. – Delaware opened play at the West Virginia University Martha Thorn Invitational Friday with seven total wins.
In singles action, the Blue Hens captured three victories over competitors from Duquesne.
Freshman Tayo Adetunji posted the 6-0, 6-4 victory over Aishwarya Kona while classmate Emily Gotkiewicz defeated Maranda Sears, 7-5, 6-4 and sophomore Sarah Whited topped Priyanka Mitta, 6-4, 7-5.
In doubles play, Whited paired with senior Annie Jaskulski for the 6-3 win against West Virginia's Kirsten White and Abigail Rosiello while also pairing with senior Sarah Hall for the 6-4 victory over Cleveland State's Gaby Schoenberg and Lara Prosenjak.
In another close match, Adetunji and classmate Caragh Courtney logged the 6-4 win versus Cleveland State's Kateryna Avram and Klara Mrcela.
Senior Draga Sabotic and freshman Viva Laas tallied their second straight victory on the year with the 6-2 decision over Duquesne's Kona and Miranda Bishard.
Tournament action continues Saturday with singles play beginning at 8 a.m. at the Summit Tennis Academy's indoor facility in Morgantown. Doubles action is slated to start at 12 p.m.
