Johnny McCoy Signs National Letter of Intent with Delaware Men’s Basketball Program

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Thursday that Johnny McCoy has signed a National Letter of Intent with the UD program and will begin competing for the Blue Hens next fall.
McCoy, a 6-4 guard from Mansfield, Conn., was named Hockomock League MVP last season when he led Mansfield High School to a 27-2 record and its first D1 state championship.
McCoy paced Mansfield with 17.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game a year ago, while also adding 2.9 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.6 blocks. He scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the state semifinal win over league rival Franklin.
McCoy is spending this season doing a postgraduate year at Tilton School in Tilton, N.H.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Johnny McCoy to our Blue Hen basketball family," Ingelsby said. "Johnny is a versatile guard who brings a combination of skill and toughness with him when he plays. He fits the type of student-athlete we want in our program and we are very excited about his future here in Newark."
