Maria Bellinger Named First Team All-CAA

RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Maria Bellinger was named First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
Bellinger led the CAA and UD in kills and kills per set. She averaged 4.38 kills per set and totaled 464 hammers in the season. Her 464 kills were the sixth most for a season in program history. Bellinger also hit the 1,000 kill mark in her career during the season, and is already 14th in program history in total kills with 1,162.
Bellinger set the modern day program record and tied the overall record with 34 kills in one match when UD faced Elon on the road. She followed that performance up with a 33 kill match against Northeastern at home. Bellinger had double-digit kills in every match except two this season. She had 20 or more kills in nine matches this season.
She won one CAA Player of the Week award after unloading 53 kills over the weekend against Northeastern and Hofstra.
This is Bellinger's first time on the first team. She appeared on the All-CAA third team last year and was a preseason All-CAA pick before this season.
