Ithiel Horton Earns Second Straight CAA Rookie of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Delaware freshman guard Ithiel Horton has earned his second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honor, the conference announced Monday.
Horton (Vauxhall, N.J./Roselle Catholic) averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds during the Blue Hens' two games last week, shooting 48.4 percent from the field including 6 of 14 from three-point range. Horton led Delaware with a season-high 22 points last Wednesday against Navy, and knocked down four three-pointers. He added 15 points in Sunday's win over Saint Francis (Pa.), including a key jumper with 54 seconds remaining.
Horton, who has reached double figures in all but one game this season including nine straight, currently ranks second on the Blue Hens with a 14.1 scoring average. He is shooting 45.6 percent from three-point range and 80.8 percent from the foul line, and is tied for the team lead with 12 steals.
The leading freshman scorer in the league, Horton ranks 16th in the CAA in scoring, fifth in three-point percentage and eighth with 2.4 three-pointers made per game.
Horton and the Blue Hens, who are off to an 8-3 start this season, travel to Stony Brook on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game with the Seawolves.
