NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware director of golf programs Patty Post has announced that former standout Andi Slane has joined the Blue Hen coaching staffs as a volunteer assistant.
Slane, the top women's golfer in program history, played five years for the Blue Hens before graduating from Delaware in the spring of 2016 with a degree in civil engineering.
Slane appeared in 42 tournaments during her career, and is the school's leader with a 76.94 average round. Additionally, she holds UD records for the lowest single round and lowest three-round score in Blue Hen history.
Slane was named the team's MVP three times, and was selected the UD Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2015-16. She became the first player in CAA history to win the conference individual title in consecutive years, as she was the tournament medalist in both 2015 and 2016. Her three-round score of 209 during the 2015 championship set school and conference records, as she won the title by eight strokes.
”We are thrilled to have Andrea come back to UD!,” Post said. “She is a proud Blue Hen who had such a successful college career that she will have a positive impact on our current men's and women's programs as a volunteer assistant. We are excited for her professional growth and continue her education and achieve her masters in civil engineering.”
