MOMENTUM: Delaware holds the momentum going in to their regular season and home opener against Mount St. Mary's. An 18-5 win last season saw Delaware lead in every offensive category. The Blue Hens would like an opening day win to start their season off on the right foot as they look to break a streak of six losing seasons.
SENIORS: Senior attackman, Andrew Romagnoli, will lead the Blue Hens offense. In last season's meeting with Mount St. Mary's, Romagnoli tallied four goals and two assists. The Hens are also returning two senior captains to their midfield unit. Jackson Finigan and Will Hirschmann will be the glue in the midfield that keeps the offense and defense in sync.
NEW ERA: Ben DeLuca is set to open up 2018 in his first season as the Blue Hens head coach. He has managed to lead teams to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances. As an assistant at Duke, he won a national championship. He also helped Cornell to a national-runner up season. In addition, he has reached three other NCAA semifinals as a head coach and an assistant.
Chris DiPretoro: Mount St. Mary's junior attackman tallied 29 goals and nine assists in just 14 games over the course of the 2017 campaign. The Mountaineers will look to DiPretoro to provide most of their offense as he was their leading scorer in 2017. He will likely get a lot of Delaware's attention on defense.
