• Delaware opens its 43rd softball season this weekend with four games at the Auburn Tiger Invitational.
• The Blue Hens return 13 letterwinners, including nine starters, from last year's squad that finished 24-29 and advanced to the CAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
• Mariah Kondravy, a second team NFCA All-Northeast Region selection, batted a team-best .365 a year ago when she led the CAA and tied the UD single season record with 19 doubles.
• Anna Steinmetz was a first team All-CAA selection and the team's MVP in 2017 after hitting .363 and starting every game behind the plate. Steinmetz is Delaware's career leader with 26 home runs, while Kondravy ranks second with 25.
• Giovanna Kolofer batted .324 a year ago, ranking second on the Blue Hens with 30 runs scored.
• Leanna Gearhart is Delaware's career leader with 88 steals, and ranks second in UD history with 127 runs scored and 20 triples.
• Jordan Cargile returns to pace the UD pitching staff after winning 17 games a year ago. She will be joined in the circle by Sarah Piening, a transfer from Rollins College, and Maddi Marsh.
• When the Blue Hens take on 13th-ranked Auburn, they will be looking for their first win over a ranked team in 24 tries.
• Following this weekend, Delaware will travel to Florida for the next two weekends to compete in the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational on Feb. 23-25 and the Citrus Classic on Mar. 2-4.
• This season Delaware will face nine teams that competed in last year's NCAA Tournament, including two that advanced to the Super Regionals.
SERIES INFORMATION 💪
• Georgia State, a former CAA member, leads the all-time series with Delaware, 17-7, although the schools have not met since the 2013 season.
• The Blue Hens will be facing Auburn for the first time in school history.
• Maryland holds a 12-3 all-time advantage over Delaware, but the teams have not faced each other since 2009.
