Blue Hens Women's Golfers Open Spring Season at Westbrook Invitational

PEORIA, Az. - The University of Delaware women's golf team will open its 2018 spring season this weekend when the Blue Hens compete in the Westbrook Spring Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
The tournament features two rounds on Sunday and one on Monday on the par 72, 6,252-yard Westbrook Invitational Golf Club Vistas Course. Action in the 54-hole invitational will begin at 8:30 a.m. MT on both days. The 15-team invitational includes the Blue Hens, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, UC Davis, Washington State and Wisconsin.
The Blue Hens, led by head coach Patty Post, are coming off of a successful fall season in which UD posted second place team finishes at the Rutgers Invitational and Delaware Invitational, while finishing third at the Nittany Lion Invitational and Yale Intercollegiate.
Delaware will look for its third consecutive Colonial Athletic Association title on April 13-15 when it competes in the conference championship in Southport, N.C. at St. James Plantation.
Sophomore Ariane Klotz led the Blue Hens with a 75.07 average round and recorded four top-10 finishes in the fall season. Captains Ashley Dingman was ranked second on the squad with a 75.14 stroke average and was the tournament medalist at the Delaware Invitational in the fall, while Valentina Mueller was third on the team with a 76.64 stroke average.
Freshman Thitaree Sakulbunpanich, who placed seventh at the Delaware Invitational, and junior Josefina Fernandez-Davila, who averaged 77.93 shots per round in the fall, will also compete for the Blue Hens at the tournament.
The Westbrook Spring Invitational is the first of five spring events for the Blue Hens, who will return to action on March 5-6 at the UNF Collegiate. Delaware will also compete in the Clover Cup on March 16-18, the Henssler Intercollegiate on March 26-27 and the Harvard Invitational on April 7-8.
