HEN SCRATCHINGS 🐔
• Delaware opens its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend by hosting local rival Drexel. Due to this week's snowstorm, the Blue Hens and Dragons will now play a 12 noon doubleheader on Sunday and a 1 p.m. single game on Monday at the UD Softball Stadium.
• Delaware concluded tournament play after hosting Cornell and Villanova in the Blue Hen Invitational last weekend, before Wednesday's twinbill at Lehigh was snowed out. UD concluded its home invitational last Sunday with a 2-0 shutout of the Big Red before posting a 6-2 triumph over the Wildcats.
• Mariah Kondravy belted a walkoff grand slam in the Blue Hens' victory against Villanova, her 29th career home run which is second most in school history. She recorded three hits on the weekend and is tied for second in UD history with 205 career hits. Kondravy belted a double on the weekend, extending her school record total to 50.
• Sarah Piening pitched a shutout and only allowed three hits in UD's win over Cornell to earn her fourth victory of the season.
• Leanna Gearhart, Mattie Nuccio and Reyna de Jesus each hit safely in all four games on the weekend. Gearhart batted .333 and stole three bases, extending her school record total to 98. She added a triple against Cornell, leaving her one shy of the Blue Hen record for triples with 21. Gearhart is now the CAA's career leader in both stolen bases and triples.
• Nuccio batted .400 with six hits on the weekend, and added a run against the Wildcats. De Jesus batted .538 with a team-leading seven hits during Delaware's four games last weekend, and went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the victory over Cornell.
• Jordan Cargile picked up her first win of the year vs. Villanova after three hitless innings of relief in her 101st appearance in the circle, tied for fifth most in Blue Hen history.
• Ali Davis batted .222 and recorded her first RBI of the season with a game-tying RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning against Villanova.
• Drexel is coming off a 2-2 performance at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational last weekend.
• The Blue Hens and Dragons have played one common opponent this season, as Delaware split two games with Cornell last weekend while Drexel posted an 11-1 victory over the Big Red at the Stetson Tournament on Mar. 2.
SERIES INFORMATION 💪
• Delaware leads the all-time series with Drexel, 47-41-1, and has taken five of six meetings over the previous two years. Last season the Blue Hens won two of three games in Philadelphia, scoring 26 runs during the weekend. Drexel has not taken a series from the Blue Hens since 2010.
