Delle Donne's Return Brings Excitement To The Blue Hens

NEWARK, Del. – Her presence is felt, not only in the Bob Carpenter
The current members of the University of Delaware women's basketball team have watched her play against the top players in the country for years. Elena Delle Donne wore the same jersey and played in the same gym, and now she's among the best players in the world.
In a month, the Blue Hens, along with fans from around the area will be treated to Delle Donne's return in a WNBA Exhibition game against the Indiana Fever on May 12 at 7 p.m.
For the current Blue Hens, the excitement around Delle Donne's return is palpable.
“For us, it's great to have an environment where women's basketball is supported and thrives. I still think about how we were able to have the USA National Team come play a few years ago. Having the WNBA come just shows again how much these fans support women's basketball,” junior Nicole Enabosi said. “It's amazing to have people we all see as role models play on your home court. Not every student-athlete gets to experience something so memorable and we're all incredibly grateful for the opportunity.”
“As a student-athlete, it means a lot to have this game played right here at the Bob. All the women that will be in the arena have once been in our position and we've wanted to be where they are since we were little, they represent more than just basketball, they are role models for all young women,” sophomore Samone DeFreese said.
“It's an honor to be able to have the chance to have so many great players in our home gym and to see how they work,” sophomore Abby Gonzales said. “I'm excited to see the presence that Elena brings. Our team and all the fans go crazy and love when she's back.”
