· Friday's game marks the regular season finale for both the Blue Hens and Dragons.
· With a win Friday, the Hens will earn a berth into the CAA Tournament in back-to-back years.
· Delaware will celebrate its B+ Hero, six-year-old Hayden Weiss, Friday against the Dragons. Through the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, a B+ Hero is a child who has battled or is still battling childhood cancer. The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation helps children fight cancer through family assistance, research and advocacy. In 2011, Delaware team captain and current director of player personnel Kalyn McDonough helped the women's lacrosse team become the first UD athletics squad to “adopt” a B+ Hero in Abby Supplee. The Blue Hens adopted Weiss in March 2016.
· Goalie Taylor Carpentier tied a season-high with 15 saves while allowing a season-low six goals to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers as Delaware (7-9, 2-3 CAA) kept its CAA Tournament hopes alive last Sunday with its 14-6 win over William & Mary. Additionally, Becky Gohsler tied a career-high with seven draw controls against the Tribe.
· Becky Gohsler is second in Blue Hens single-season history with 72 draw controls and 177 career draw controls. Caitlin McCartney holds the single-season school record with 73 draw controls (2015) and career mark with 186 draw controls (2012-15).
· Becky Gohsler is also third all-time with 75 career caused turnovers. Erin Wein (2013-16) holds the school record with 126 career caused turnovers while Caitlin McCartney (2012-15) is second with 86.
· With 32 assists, Mia DeRuggiero is tied for third in Blue Hens single season history alongside All-American Karen Emas, who posted 32 during the 1984 campaign. Emas also registered 34 assists in 1984 while Denise Swift holds the record of 43 set in 1984.
· Sydney Rausa ranks 12th nationally with a 59.2 shot percentage while Taylor Carpentier is 13th nationally with 10.27 saves per game and 41st with 2.80 ground balls per game, Becky Gohsler is 20th nationally with 2.06 caused turnovers per game Mia DeRuggiero is 29th with 2.06 assists per game and Chantae Simms is 44th with 2.75 ground balls per game.
· Taylor Carpentier is nearing 400 career saves and finished last weekend with 392 for her three-year career, a mark good for sixth in Delaware history.
· The Hens was predicted to finished fourth in the CAA Preseason Poll.
· Seniors Taylor Carpentier and Becky Gohsler were picked as All-CAA Preseason selections.
· This season marks the 41st overall in Delaware program history. In the previous 40 seasons, the Blue Hens have tallied a composite record of 377-295 (.561) with 18 10-plus win campaigns.
· A squad that went 9-8 overall and 4-2 in CAA play with a trip to the CAA Tournament last year, UD returns 19 letter winners and eight starters while adding 11 newcomers.
· A youthful squad, the Hens feature just 11 juniors and seniors in 2017.
· Kateri Linville, who is in her eighth season at her alma mater in 2017-18, welcomes Joe Tornetta and Callie Santos as assistant coaches for the year.
SERIES INFORMATION 💪
· Since the first meeting in 1986, Delaware holds the all-time series advantage over Drexel at 25-8 and has won three of its last four.
· A year ago, the Blue Hens recieved hat tricks from four different players and clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament with their 16-9 victory over Drexel at Vidas Field. Megan Santoleri led the way by tallying her second straight game with a career-high four goals to go along with a draw control and caused turnover while Becky Gohsler added her eighth hat trick of the season with three goals and registered a career-best six draw controls to eclipse 100 draw controls for her career.
· In the last matchup at Delaware Stadium, the Dragons picked up the 6-4 win.
