McGroarty's Record-Breaking Run Highlights Blue Hens' Weekend at ECACs

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Liz McGroarty of the University of Delaware track & field team wasn't ready to hang up the track spikes just yet.
McGroarty unleashed a school-record breaking performance to highlight the Blue Hens' trip to ECAC Championships this past weekend in Princeton, N.J. A trip that landed Delaware in the top-20 at the meet.
The Glen Mills, Pa. native became the first Blue Hen ever to break the 4:20 mark in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:19.92. The performance gave her second place in the event and locked up a spot at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds later this month.
Junior Ashley Bailey continued her strong year with a top-three finish in the pole vault, earning All-East honors by clearing 12' 6”.
The 4x800 relay team of Michaela Meyer, Susanna Weir, Angie Spadaccini and Jeanette Bendolph wrapped up the weekend for the Blue Hens by earning a top-seven finish, clocking in at 9:05.70.
Bailey and McGroarty are set to head to NCAA East Prelims from May 23-26 at the University of South Florida.
