Blue Hens Complete Opening Weekend at Villanova Classic

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Blue Hens picked up three team victories this past weekend at the Eighth Annual Villanova Classic.
Throughout weekend play, Delaware topped Loyola twice and Lafayette once.
Sophomore Guilherme Valdoleiros led the way with three singles victories while pairing with junior Dominick Perez for three doubles wins.
The duo defeated Lafayette's Will Barry and Brandt Baldwin (6-1), Loyola's Charlie Shanker and Edik Pribitkin (6-2) and Loyola's J.J. Good and Nate Ferro (6-3).
Valdoleiros added singles wins over Shanker (7-6, 6-1), Good (6-1, 6-0) and Haverford's George Jiang (6-1, 6-1).

"We had a productive weekend playing many tennis matches and it was a good challenge for the guys to compete in their first tournament of the fall. We battled through some tough matches and it definitely tested our conditioning and how fast we are able to recover."
