RICHMOND, Va. – All week last week, the University of Delaware women's soccer team talked about playing hard and finishing.
That's exactly what freshman Damali Simon-Ponte did, scoring her first collegiate goal and assisting on another in the Blue Hens' hard-fought loss to St. John's last week.
For her play, she was honored by being named CAA Rookie of the Week.
Simon-Ponte is the first Blue Hen to win Rookie of the Week since Sept. 4 of last season when Riley Dixon earned the recognition.
Delaware opens up CAA play this week when they host the Huskies of Northeastern on Thursday night. Game time at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
