NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware freshman midfielder Timo Hummrich has been named CAA Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week following his two-goal performance in the Blue Hens' 2-1 overtime victory over Charleston on Saturday.
Hummrich (Berlin, Germany/Hertha BSC) scored the first goal of his career in the 38th minute when he headed home a corner kick from Arno Masson-Viale to pull Delaware even at 1-1.
Hummrich then scored the game-winning goal just 1:46 into the first overtime period, firing a shot off a Jake Steinberg cross that was deflected by a Cougars defender, before he collected the rebound and directed a low shot in the left corner of the net.
Hummrich has started all seven games this season for Delaware, tying for the team lead with two goals and ranking second with four points.
The Blue Hens return to action on Wednesday when they head to James Madison for a 7 p.m. match against the Dukes at Sentara Park.
