BLACKSBURG, Va. – Delaware wrapped its first weekend of fall action Sunday with play at the Hokie Fall Invite.
Senior Draga Sabotic claimed the Service singles consolation flight title with a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Iowa State's Karen Alvarez.
Sabotic also paired with freshman Viva Laas for an 8-5 victory against Virginia Tech's Dori Mesmer and Jade Woo in the Sacrifice doubles flight.
Sophomore Sarah Whited also earned the win with a hard-fought, come-from-behind Duty singles flight decision over Georgia Southern's Paige Christian, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
POST-MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Kelly Anderson
"Our girls competed hard all weekend and we saw improvements in one of the fundamental factors of successful college tennis – energy. Staying mentally disciplined in our shot selection is what is going to make us an effective team this year. Our seniors and upperclassmen lead by example in all areas and it was a great opportunity for our freshmen to get their first taste of collegiate tennis against some very good players in one of the best college tennis environments in the nation."
