Delaware Softball Announces 2018 Fall Schedule

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware softball team will play six games, including four at the UD Softball Stadium, as first-year Blue Hen head coach Jen Steele announced the squad's fall schedule on Thursday.
Delaware, which returns seven starters and 12 letterwinners from last year's team, will open its slate on Saturday, Sept. 22 with a 12 noon doubleheader at home against UMBC. The following Saturday, Sept. 29, the Blue Hens will travel to La Salle to face the Explorers at 10 a.m. and then Lafayette at 12:15 p.m.
The schedule concludes at the UD Softball Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 6 when the Blue Hens host Delaware State in a twinbill beginning at 12 noon.
Delaware will be led by senior catcher Anna Steinmetz, who was named first team All-CAA and third team All-Northeast Region this past spring. Sophomores Reyna de Jesus and Chayanna Gallardo, who each were selected to the CAA All-Rookie Team, are also back for the Blue Hens.
