Nieves Finishes Second, Kedzlie Eighth at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Roberto Nieves tied for second place while Hugo Kedzlie tied for eighth as the University of Delaware men's golf team moved up four spots to a sixth place finish at the Bucknell Invitational.
The Blue Hens, who carded a 295 score during Monday's opening round, fired a 285 on Tuesday to place sixth out of 14 squads with a 580 total. Colgate was the team champion with a 572 score, while Detroit Mercy finished second at 574 and the host Bison were third at 575.
Nieves carded his second straight 70 on the par 70, 6,224-yard Bucknell Golf Club course on Tuesday, tying for second place with an even par 140. Nieves recorded five birdies and added eight pars during his final round of the tournament. Jonathan Brillati of Detroit Mercy took home medalist honors at two under par, while Nieves was one of four players to finish two shots back.
Kedzlie, playing as an individual, carded the Blue Hens' lowest round on Tuesday with a one under par 69, finishing with a two over par 73-69-142. He birdied 16, 3 and 9 to go with 13 pars on the day.
RJ Wren tied for 16th place at the invitational with a five over par 73-72-145, while Matt Pulgini tied for 26th place with a seven over par 77-70-147. Michal Bargenda carded an eight over par 75-73-148 to finish in a tie for 32nd place, while Jack Melville fired a 10 over par 77-73-150 to tie for 47th place.
Delaware wraps up its fall schedule on Oct. 28-29 at The Intercollegiate at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Fla.
