RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time this season, both senior Maria Bellinger and freshman Ezgi Basaranlar were named CAA Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Â
The duo helped Delaware go 2-0 this past week with a sweep of Charleston at home before a four-set victory at JMU, the Blue Hens' first since 2011.
Â
Bellinger was as advertised with 39 kills between the two matches, hitting .333 for the week. She made just one error, coming on her 48th attempt, with 19 kills in the sweep of Charleston. She followed that with a double-double that included 20 kills and 10 digs to help the Blue Hens knock off the CAA favorite JMU.
Â
Basaranlar had a pair of 40-plus-assist performances in Delaware's 2-0 week. Against the Dukes, she put together a double-double with 41 assists and 10 digs after a 40-assist night in a sweep of Charleston Monday. Basaranlar also had a career-high six blocks against the Cougars.
