Jones Takes Home CAA Co-Runner of the Week Accolades

RICHMOND, Va. – Mackenzie Jones' career as a member of the University of Delaware cross country team may best be symbolized by the very course she's run for four years.
There's been ups and downs, bumps, curves and everything in between.
This past Saturday, Jones saw her Blue Hens career reach a pinnacle with a career-best performance at the prestigious Paul Short Invitational, where she helped Delaware to a top-30 team finish.
Jones blistered the six-kilometer course in 21:06.1, eclipsing her previous career best by over 40 seconds, which was previously set in 2016 at Penn State at 21:49.3.
"Mackenzie ran the best cross country race of her college career this weekend. I'm really proud of her for stepping up and leading the team. She has had some bad luck throughout her career so to see her overcome so much and perform the way she did says a lot about who she is as a person," head coach Ryan Waite said.
Jones and her teammates have two weeks off before hitting the trails again at Princeton and Indiana State on Saturday, October 19.
